“We used this sauce for dipping chunks of ham. It was so good. Everyone raved about it.”

Homemade Honey Mustard is one of my all-time favorite sauces. I’m not sure if I like it more as a dipping sauce for pretzels, veggies (Brussels sprouts are my fav,) and chicken or slathered on bread with a slice of leftover Christmas ham. It’s so versatile that it can also be used as a salad dressing. As you can tell, I’m kind of off in “honey mustard land,” just dreaming up new ways to use it.
What Goes Into Homemade Honey Mustard?
- Mustard – You will need whole grain mustard and Dijon mustard for all the mustard flavor.
- Mayonnaise – Adding just a smidge of mayo creates that luscious texture that makes great honey mustard dressing!
- Honey – Use high-quality honey. I usually get one at the farmers market. I don’t recommend raw honey because it can be a bit too thick and hard to mix up.
- Salt & Cayenne Pepper – Both add just the right amount of spice to really bring this sauce to life.
Honey Mustard Using Vinegar
Many honey mustard recipes use apple cider vinegar, which, for me, turns the sauce into more of a salad dressing. If you want a dressing or vinaigrette, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to the recipe.
How To Make Honey Mustard In Just 5 Minutes!

- Serve immediately or store it in an airtight container.
How To Store
This gourmet honey mustard sauce should be kept in the fridge. It will keep for 4 to 5 days in a sealed container like a mason jar.
